COSCO Shipping Lines Italy

COSCO Shipping Italy emerged as a strategic joint venture between COSCON Europe GmbH, the European arm of COSCON Shanghai, and the esteemed Fratelli Cosulich S.p.A.
Founded in 2005, the company quickly positioned itself as a pivotal General Agent in Italy for COSCO Shipping Lines Co. Ltd. Operating in key Italian ports along the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Adriatic Sea, and the Ionian Sea, COSCO Shipping Italy ensures an extensive network facilitating cargo transport to and from major global destinations. Furthermore, thanks to a well-organized sub-agent network in various ports, COSCO Shipping Italy guarantees complete coverage.
The company commands an impressive fleet of 489 vessels, including the most advanced ultra-large carriers, reaching 140 countries, seamlessly integrating a multimodal transport system. With a forward-looking approach, COSCO Shipping Italy is dedicated to "delivering values," reflecting the shared mission with the Fratelli Cosulich Group, setting the course for a future of maritime excellence.

Fratelli Cosulich Group

Our History

1988

On April 9, passing through La Spezia, the motor vessel Jiang Ting arrives in Genoa, docking at Ponte Somalia the following day. With 3,583 tons to unload, it is the first COSCO ship represented by Fratelli Cosulich S.r.l., marking the beginning of their role as COSCO's general agent in Italy.

1996

On April 29 1996, COSCOS is established as a joint venture between COSCO Europe and the Fratelli Cosulich Group, with equal partnership. As a joint venture, COSCOS has two Presidents: Chen Shue Kun from COSCO Europe and Paolo Cosulich from the Fratelli Cosulich Group. The two Managing Directors are Fu Chen Qiu and Augusto Cosulich.

1997

COSCO establishes the AMA (Asia-Mediterranean-America) service, connecting Shanghai with the US East Coast via the Mediterranean and the Suez Canal. On April 4, COSCO ships begin regular calls at the port of Naples. COSCOS Italy opens a new representative office in the city, along with a commercial office in Milan.

Late 90s

COSCOS moves its office in the recently renovated ancient port of Genoa, beating heart of all maritime activities. The positive results of the AMA service lead COSCOS to start a liner service managed entirely by the company. Managing Director Fu proposes Genoa office as a hub for routes to Africa. This service was later taken over by COSCO Europe and managed from Hamburg, with the Genoa branch focusing on booking activities.

2001

COSMED is launched, a new line fully managed by COSCOS together with the COSCO agent in Israel, connecting Italy, France, and Israel.

2005

COSCOS splits into two entities, creating Coscon Italy S.r.l. for containerized cargo transport, and COSCOS S.r.l. dedicated to road/train transportation, agency and chartering activities.

2017

On July 2017, ISO is incorporated into COSCOS S.r.l.

2024

At the beginning of 2024, TRASGO S.r.l. became part of COSCOS and the wider Fratelli Cosulich Group.
